What happened to the talk of the Ozone layer problem ????

So, I was thinking the other day about Global Warming, then I started thinking about when I was younger and all the talk was about the ozone layer, acid rain, killer bees and aerosol cans. And I was a scared little girl. What happened???? I'm a true believer about doing what I can to help the environment. I recycle, use tote bags instead of plastic and several other things. But I wonder if human made Global Warming will go away like our ozone layer problem? I'm just saying. ~ Kara.

Hi Kara. I want alternative fuels and energy for national security reasons and because we cannot depend on fossil fuels forever. Alternative energy will cut down on pollution and that's great, too. I'm not too worried about Global Warming, but I'm not dismissing the possibility that humans contribute to it. Jason

I'm sure it didn't. I just don't hear about it anymore......

I hear about it every once in a great while as a shout out to global warming, but i believe that hole has been there ever since we have had the technology to observe it. The ozone is created by sunlight and, since there is not enough sun at the pole in the winter, the hole is there every season, and then also closes up every season when the sunlight is sufficient. That's my understanding anyway. Still happens, but it closes every year, as it always has,to the best of my knowledge- Dani

i think those problems are still there. true, you don't hear much about them anymore...many laws and regulations were passed to reduce the amount of ozone depleting chemicals in aerosol cans and air conditioners so the problem may not be as bad.
global warming may indeed "go away"...but it also may ruin the earth for all life. the reality i believe is somewhere in between and it's probably smart not to assume it will "go away" as most of the things we can do to prevent it, also have their own social and environmental benefits...like reduced polution, engery independence etc...it's kind of like, if we are wrong, and global warming was just a fluke, we are still better off.....if we are right, and we prevent it, then we are way better off....
